Had my lovely Arab X Welsh PTS today.
He had a tumble in the field a few days ago running about massive skid marks everywhere.Came in very lame vet out IV Bute and sachets for 5 days only a very little improvement and struggling to get up.and lying down a lot. Walking very oddly with leg carried away from body.
Not happy with him struggling to get Bute powders into him so Vet out late afternoon yesterday more IV Bute then reassess this morning ( needed to get the arrangements into place)the vet thinks he has damaged his hip joint maybe luxating as well .The IV Bute made him comfortable overnight but can't give that high a dose long term.Decided to let him go he was is 26 low grade Cushing's positive for Ems as well as managed COPD .
His was such a nice character but sometimes your battling the odds.
I'm going to miss that little chap but it was the right thing to do.
