My beautiful grey boy suffered a collateral ligament injury in the field and in all probability will not return to the levels of competition we were previously competing. Its been absolutely devastating news for me, he is the horse of a lifetime - he has taught me so much, he has such a funny character , a quirky ride, and a real best friend. We were starting elementary dressage and jumping 1.10 for fun. He is currently being rehabbed in bar shoes after a period of box rest. I want to go on and up the levels and while he may come sound enough for lower level stuff, he will probably not be able to progress up through the levels and it is unfair for me to ask that of him. So he is retiring as my comp horse.

So i have been looking for a young horse that i can progress through the levels with - and after trying many, and even driving to holland i think i have found a partner that i can have a lot of fun with

Hes rising 4, hes been backed a few weeks and imported from holland a month ago. He seems like a really genuine lad, very willing and mature for his age. CC welcome.

I am picking him up tomorrow - i feel very bittersweet about the whole thing.

dont write your other one off. 6 to 12 months of box and field rest followed by 3 months pavement pounding and he could well come good again. what age is he? good luck with the new one looks nice, but as a 4 yr old will need spoon feeding for a year or so. looks nice

I agree, don't write the older one off. I bought my second horse for RC activities and hacking as my first wasnt suitable. First horse was an unpredictable battle to hack and napped every few yards. He's had a few months away from hacking and was just schooled in the meantime. I rode him off the yard yesterday and he was as good as gold.

Although physical is obviously different to psychological, I never expected to be able to and I have! Will keep my fingers crossed for you both.

Please dont think i am writing my grey off, and trading him in for a newer younger model! god, i couldnt tell you how much that would never happen! I am not writing him off anyway, but my grey is 16, and has had some bad owners in the past who, lets just say, didnt really take much care with him.

I do think he will come sound enough to ride, but hes a quirky horse and not a great hack - hes very overdramatic, even in company! I shall just have to wait and see what happens but theres no rush and no huge pressure on him now.

Sorry to hear about your boy, it may sounds bad now but I believe things happen for a reason.

Your 4yo looks absolutely stunning! What a gorgeous face :D

He isn't be any chance related to a chestnut sec.d? They sound the spit of each other!

Hello 2ladies ;) yes i do still have my gorgeous sec A - just last month she was sweeping up the ribbons in the in-hand vets classes at 26!

Hes a Dutch WB, no sec D in him im afraid! ( both the grey and the chestnut, not related to eachother though )

But i love his face too - i think thats probably what swung it for me ( and the lovely ride and attitude for such a young boy!)
