We sold a little 15.2 chestnut mare to a lovely family ten years ago. I had a phone call this morning from them to let me know they had to have her pts last week due to colic The woman was in floods of tears. She had originally bought the mare for her niece, and five years ago when her niece was too busy with family, she took her on herself.
She said she had never show-jumped before but took it up with this little mare, never jumping more than 60cms but having great fun. She said in the whole time she jumped her she only ever had 3 poles down and she had a tableful of trophies. She rode her every morning. She was just heartbroken at her loss.
It was very sad to hear, but also wonderful to know that she had been so loved and such a good horse for her owners. Very thoughtful of them to let us know.
RIP Fair Exchange aka Sorty - good little horse
