A FB 'friend' that I barely know who lives in another country put on her FB page over 11 hours ago that her horse was dying of colic and she wanted to get the vet out but the vets couldn't come out until the following day. I find this shocking. "We have one scheduled but they can't come out until tomorrow and in the meantime she is suffering but we will not use **** vet practice as they 'messed up' last time."
Instead a load of people (presumably her friends) are sending heartfelt condolences saying 'so sorry', 'thinking of you' and saying 'prayers that *** is out of pain soon', the hands in prayer emoji, 'sorry your end is near and yet so far' etc, etc.
There are photos of said horse lying down without water but with her head within reach of hay with snow flakes falling on her surrounded by bricks and other debris that is scattered about the 'paddock'.
And then four or five days prior to this according to the FB page she said the same horse had colic, although by morning she was magically 'better' so it sounds like a rumbling colic that has gone on untreated for a good while.
I think this is so sad. You might have a grievance against a particular vet but does it really matter when your 20+ horse is in serious pain?
I am so angry. Instead of 'sending her prayers' I have sent her a message asking when her friend was finally put out of its misery? Its not the first horse that has suffered, I saw one very obese horse that was with the typical laminitic stance surrounded by lush grass some time earlier in the year that she had to have pts too. I know horses get laminitis but she didn't appear like she knew what was happening.
Its made me so mad and sad at the same time.
