Im going hunting tomorrow on a pony i have on trial and his saddle slips to the side of his back when i ride him and mount him. does anybody know anything to keep it in place. I was thinking a breastplate but i have never used one and I'm not sure if it would work

I know this sounds very basic, but are you sure your girth is tight enough? If you've never had a horse that blows out before you may not appreciate exactly how much they can expand. I'd also check the fit of the saddle when time permits, and that your stirrup leathers are genuinely the same length (rather than on the same hole).

A breastplate might help a bit, but I believe there are also non-slip saddle pads which although I've never tried them would probably be my choice given the short timescales involved here.
