Hi - I am looking for a very lightweight nice saddle for my old gelding. He is just coming back into light work, has a bit of muscle wasting and very high withers. Can anyone suggest something suitable that could be adjusted by the saddler if necessary as the saddle we had for him previously can't be adjusted to suit him

Many thanks

I used a Crosby narrowfit on my old TB, initially with a prolite high wither pad until he had built up some muscle.

He had stupidly high withers and was very difficult to fit a saddle to - this was the only one I found that he was comfortable in.

Try the thorowgood's newer range.

They have adjustable gullets and three differnt tree types so the highwithers or standard might suit.

They're also very lightweight.

You can buy one for £350 or so new or you might be able to find one second hand (just make sure it's the adjustable gullet type as only the newest ones have it)
