Im not sure but I was looking in the local paper earlier and there was one 2nd hand for £120! I thought about checking it out, my friend uses one on her tb mare and she loves it, but I'd want it for a extra wide cob!
They are a TB saddle, designed for a TB back - narrow tree that's fairly curved (and gets more curved as it's widened) with sloping cambred panels to fit the sloping loins of a TB.
You can change the gullet width to pretty much any size but you can't do anything about the rest of the saddle. On wider or flatter horses the tree is too curved (so the saddle rocks) and the panels too sloped so the outside edge the back digs in.
You'd be better looking at thorowgood saddles if you want a cheap saddle - although the flocking is rubbish and needs topping up within months (although very few people do so
) the tree and panel design is well thought out and suits most horses, esp as there are various different types avalible.
