I need a cabinet to store my saddles in, ideally three saddles and three bridles with room for my grooming box and first aid kit at the bottom or top.

I know you can buy these but they are £200 plus and i don't really need one for 'security' of such, (even though it would be a bonus) as our yard is secure enough and it would really need for storage as my tack room is the other end of the yard and i find it easier to keep my tack in my car.

So i was thinking if i bought a cheapish wardrobe with two doors, it would be wide enough for the saddle and have enough room for everything else. I could fix a sturdy piece of wood on the back and add a couple of saddle racks and bridle hooks and whallaah!! x

Would this work? It could be bolted onto the stable and would be inside the stable in the corner with my horse.

Any better ideas? or links to cheap already made ones! My dad works at a timber place so i could build it all from scratch (im feeling creative) but a wardrobe would be easier wouldnt it?! x

It may be hard to find a cheap wardrobe that is deep enough but it's a good idea :)

Alternatives would be tall kitchen larder cupboards or old metal office cupboards (there are companies that sell second hand office stuff)

I have managed (well dad has) to find a company clearing 60 fridges/chest freezers etc, would this work? Stand the chest freezer upright? If i got a 6ft one it would fit a lot in, and they are free!! x Could get 2 single chest freezers for my feed to go and a 6ft one upright, bolt some wood in the back to hang the saddle racks up? x

I want to be an inventor!! haha x

Metal would be ok in his stable as he tends to leave stuff alone (unless its his hay on a pallet in his stable!!) x
