My saddles need an MOT and my previous saddler has semi-retired so doesn't come out any more. Just been quoted £45 call out and possibly £130 for a full re-stuff if it needs it. I have 2 saddles so this seems alot to me (previously cost £60 for a re-stuff) How much do other people pay? I have been told they are good.

I had my old saddle checked and stuffing re-arranged on Saturday for £15 all in, I think it's £40 for a full restuff including call out.

Did use Barry Swain but he's apparently not coming out to look at saddles anymore. Trying "Saddlers Bench" but it sounds quite pricey. Who do you use? Only need saddles checking, pony is going fine as usual.

if a few of us all have our saddles done at the same time the lady i use just charges £5 per saddle to check the saddle/fit , last time i paid £25 onsite for adjustment/extra flock

think its about £60 for a full reflock & she takes it away

Lady called Mel who has worked wonders with Pidge

will give you her phone number if you want?

you can take them to Barrie's in Walsall, and they'll do them while you wait. very reasonable for a re-fit to template, but if you truly want a full re-flock (i.e. take all the old stuff out and start again) then it takes a while and costs more.

I usually use Barry (+ annette p) but he was really rude on the phone. He's done reflock before so I just wanted him to have a look but said he only does his own saddles now and slammed phone down. Not v impressed and I always tell people how good he is too!!! A livery also called to enquire re new saddle and got similar response. On the look out for someone else!

oh, god, Barrie really is a nightmare. he can be very moody, sometimes he'll do anything for you, other times i know to leave him well alone.

he's done me tons of favours and been so kind and helpful over the years, and nobody knows more about saddles, but other times i've walked in there, said hi, seen the look on his face, and scarpered pronto.
tbh you want to try to talk to Dave if you can... if you can bear to call there again! Dave's brilliant, very helpful, lovely guy. tell him Kerry (from Lincolnshire) told you to call, it might help!
otherwise, if you ring and ask Annette, she might take it to him for you?
the lady Pidge mentions, Mel, was really really helpful to me on the phone a while back when i rang her about something, definitely worth a try if you can't bear the thought of speaking to anyone at Barrie's again.
fwiw he went to a friend of mine's yard and she described him as "the rudest man i have ever met" after what he said about her appallingly-fitting saddle and poor suffering horse's back...!

Palomino_pony or Pidge - could you let me have this lady's number please? Need to have one of my saddles looked at and not sure who to go to. I think you're in my neck of the woods! Am new on here so not sure how you do it, but guess you PM (?) me and I can pick it up?
Thanks lots
