I have had terrible trouble with my Wintec wide slipping to the right and have set my heart on a Saddle Company cob saddle. Has anyone else got one of these? What are your opinions on them? And also, why is it so hard to find a second hand one that's in decent condition?
Thanks :)

I have one and it is stable on my horse and we get on well with it.They are not an expensive saddle as saddles go sort of middle price so keep saving.

I had a Saddle Co. saddle and I loved it. Actually I have just sold it due to my mare loosing alot of weight, it was in mint condition.

Dammit.....I wish I'd posted sooner! Just out of interest, what price did you advertise it at? It's looks like I'll have to spend at least £300 for a second hand one in decent condition and if I need it altering and reflocking it can cost up to another £100 so is it worth saving for a new one or is it possible to get a good second hand one at a decent price?

Brilliant saddles, I have one for each of my horses. Personally I would purchase a new one as I think the basic ones are about £625 but it will be made to measure for your horse and any adjustments after it has bedded in should be included in the price.

I got one a few weeks ago and love it. Got a table for a horse and couldn't find anything else that fit properly. Mine did slip the other day when I had to get off to open an awkward gate on a hack and had to get back on from the ground, think thats more to do with her shape than the fit of the saddle though. Just had to find a convenient fence to hop on from.

Bought one brand new as I was fed up with having nothing to ride in, and yes they can make adjustments - as in fit longer length flaps if you have long legs etc. And my mare is going brilliantly in it, never knew she could walk out nicely, she's moving really freely :)

I sold mine for £300.00 it did cost £730.00 brand new, it was the Genoa, the all leather one. I really look after my tack and it was in mint condition, not one scratch on it. I had mine re-flocked about 4 times and it cost me £40.00 plus a call out fee. It was always done on site as she has the special equipment in the van.

Sorry, one more question.....where did you advertise it? I've been looking on Ebay and Preloved.

When I got mine, someone was asking about second hand ones and told the best place was ebay. But they do get snapped up quickly! Depends how much time/ patience you have for the right thing to come along. But my Saddle Company guy told me that if I bought one 2nd hand, he'd check it over/ reflock it etc. There are now quite a few people on our yard on the hunt for them for youngsters because of the facility to change them so easily.

I've actually recently bought one off Ebay but it wasn't in very good condition so I'm negotiating a refund with the seller. I had our local SC fitter out and she said it was OK but was very old and I could better for the money I'd spent. Consequently I am thinking that buying second hand online is a bit of a nightmare and so am seriously considering being patient and saving up to buy brand new.

There's a good reason they don't come up too often - they're tooo comfey, like a pair of old slippers, we've had two for almost 10 years.
