Saddle Company saddles

They are utterly brilliant for the horses, really forgiving and fit superbly, plus are alterable. For the more serious competitor I just do not find them up to the job though, so it depends what you want to do in it. I've had dressage and GP and had to get rid of both as they just didn't help my riding as I progressed up to Novice BE.

I've got the GP and I'm not a massive fan. I bought it for my 4 1/2 year old 18 months ago thinking it would be good for his changing shape. I hate the position it puts me in and I feel as though I'm fighting to keep a decent leg position. Also the fit wasn't great for my boy who naturally has a dipped back which lifts a lot through work so the saddle sits of his back quite a lot. I'm now selling it as I've just ordered a wow saddle.

On the positives they are easy to look after, good value for money and the fact they can be altered is great.

I have the WH one for my NF pony. I love it very light and smart saddle. He goes beautifully in it and it really shows off his shoulders. Comfy for me too. As a 5 year old he is filling out so altering is a bonus.

just bought the wh one & get it fitted this friday

I wouldnt use anything else - I fit SC saddles as well!

I have the dressage and event versions for both of my horses and they love them. The fact that I can alter the tree as they change shape is a major bonus as one of mine is a youngster and is still growing and the other was in very poor condition with no topline and as he has developed I have been able to adjust his saddle.

Bozzy - did you have the flocking adjusted to fit the shape of your horses back? My youngster gets a bit croup high when he is about to have another growth spurt so I adjust the flocking to accommodate this. Otherwise the saddle presses to much on cantle and sits too high in front. Can be a nightmare to fit him sometimes!

ive got the working hunter verona for my pony. it is very light, fits her well, and looks really smart (i opted for nubuck knee rolls and seat), it wasnt very expensive and was made up very quickly to her measurements.
However i find the seat quite hard and it puts me in a poor position, which means i often get lower back pain. But it was the best thing i could find for the ponies comfort.

Yes we tried that but it's made little difference unfortunately. Or not unfortunately as it gave me a great excuse to buy a brand spanking new saddle

Bozzy - you should be able to resell it quite easily so you can put the money towards your new saddle!

I found my dressage very comfortable from the first time I sat in it but admit that I have never ridden in the WH so cant compare seat hardness. The knee rolls help with position but I actually only use them with one of my horses (the slightly roly poly one). the event is great because it has 2 sets of knee rolls so I find the seat very secure.

CBAnglo - Do you know how much I could hope to get? It's an 18 month old brown 17.5" Verona GP currently at medium wide fitting? Just the usual signs of use, otherwise in good condition.

It really depends on demand. 17.5" is a popular seat size although most people prefer the GP in black and the WH in brown! I would suspect at least £300ish depending on condition (new ones are about £595 at the moment). They usually go quite quickly on ebay. Would your original fitter not take it back from you to sell on?

Impressed with mine and a very good value range all round. Will be moving up to a Semiflex when funds allow though.

they are going for £250 or less on eBay, one just ended unsold at £245 as the reserve was not met
