I loved the dressage one and felt in the perfect postion all the time which was great. Wasnt so keen on the endurance one though - felt too perched on top. Seemed to fit the horses really well too. They were used on highlands and welsh section d

i'm not keen, had a gp one for my old boy and it never fit very well, i felt very unsecure and perched. it was also terribly uncomfortable!

I did have a event version one a while back, only used it a handful of times as it swung across my horses back, rubbing him and the leather came away around by the stitching, and after hunting, where the sturrip leathers run had rubbed away the leather so I wasn't best pleased with the quality imo.

I bought one for my previous horse and I personally found it very comfy, all be it I did used to feel a little perched.

The only thing I found that the flaps wore strangely and I did hear that it was quite common for this to happen.

I quite liked the saddle and thought it was good value for money

I have a dressage one! I would recommend that if you do decide to purchase one, that you use a reputable saddle fitter recommended by The Saddle Company. Mine is a perfect fit and I have it checked every 6 months. However a friend of mine has purchased two using two different saddlers. The saddle ordered and fitted by the same saddler as myself was a perfect fit but the saddle fitted by the other saddler was a bad fit. When inspected by an alternative saddler they couldnt believe how incorrect the fit was! If you take a template yourself, you can order direct from The Saddle Company. Also, when you frist get your saddle, I was advised to only do walk work in it for the first 3 weeks to allow the saddle to soften and mound to my horses back. Once I did this, my saddle didnt sit as high as it first looked on my horses back. Ive had it for 4 years now and can honestly say that it is the most comfortable saddle I have ever sat in and I love the fact that I can send it back to The Saddle company to have it retemplated as and when I need to. Great value for money.

Hope this helps :-)

I fit saddle company saddles and have had them for my horses for about 4 yrs. The panels are made from serge and are flocked with special flocking (not the standard white flocking) which means that the panels mould to the horse's back. There are various different models depending on what you want the saddle for. The trees are made from injected moulded plastic and the metal gullet is attached to the tree. Using a special templating machine, the metal gullet is narrowed/widened which also alters the front of the tree. The back half of the tree stays the same. There are various trees to suit the conformation of the back as well as several different types of panels.

Love my two saddles!! Both are gel and have done such a wonderful job in alloweing him to move freely!! I wouldnt go to any other saddles now!! We were suppose have a check up next week can't now as hes on box rest with a foot abccess!! Soon as his sound I get them checkd which hopefully wont be too long!! Vets out tommorrow!!

I have a Saddle Company Saddle an 18 inch Eventing Saddle which was made to fit my ex-racehorse Lara who suddenly died, now have a Belgian Warmblood Mare called Sabrina who is a different shape and the Saddle Company was able to get the Saddle to fit its all how good the Saddle fitter is.

Had a couple. Feel they're not particularly good quality for their money.

Whether they fit or not obviously depends on your horse. I've found the panels come up very long for their size and two out of 3 had their panels attached squint at the back.

The thorowgood/kent and master/fairfax (same saddle, different materials) are better quality for the price, but more limited on custom adjustments(flap length etc). Again fit depends on your horse.

Both saddle can only be adjusted at the front. If the rest doesn't fit, there's little you can do. The fit is very similar for both brands as they use a very similar (same?) tree's and panels.

I have one and love it. Got a tabletop cob and having been ripped off by a previous saddler, and struggling to find anything to fit i've gone for an SCS. Had it fitted by one person and checked recently by another (due to the ripping off I like to have a 2nd opinion on these things!) and all fits fine. Didn't know my mare could walk out - freaked me out the first time I rode in it, thought someone had swopped my short striding cob for the long striding TB I used to ride! I find it v comfy, was covering 12 miles a day in it last summer and no sore bum-itis!

If you decide to buy one:

They are very adjustable.
The tree can't twist.
You can have extra padding in the seat if you have a boney bottom.
Get leather flaps, the half leather, half synthetic wear out quickly, but leather is great.
East to adjust flocking if you have the serge panels.

Unfortunatly, they don't suit my horses shape, or I'd have one.

Iv got an sc event in leather with a gel seat and nubuck knee rolls and seat. Best saddle ever, so comfy, great value for money, absolutely love it! Had it nearly 5 years and dispite not being cleaned that often :) looks like new! The knee blocks and nubuck ensure when my tbs being a pratt I stay nice and secure! Was also advised to bed the saddle in so to speak by walking for the first few weeks without a saddle cloth, allowing the serge panels to mould to my tbs body.

I had a dressage one a few years ago made for my horse and initially loved it, however after about a year the leather kind of went baggy on the saddle flaps (where my boots were obviously moving around) and stretched away from the synthetic underside. the saddle co did replace for free but the saddle wasnt a deep seated dressage saddle and after I had my albion I would never go back!! The saddles are very light though. I wouldnt get another however as would worry about the same problem again

The SC tree absolutely CAN twist! I've seen several that were!

I like the SC saddles on paper, and at a quick glance, for what they are.

But when I look closer, I just don't like them at all. I've never yet seen a straight one - they've all been either twisted or shockingly asymmetric. And I have seen/heard of so many fitting problems too.

Which sadly means I would never consider putting them on my horse.

To anyone who is considering one, I would have to recommend they go over it with a fine toothed comb to make sure it is straight and symmetrical.
