I have a 20 year old continually changing shape a tad veteran. His saddle fits reasonably well at present and come winter will fit very well (I have had him 15 years so am accustomed to his weight fluctatations!). It is reflocked every six months by a MSF who comes out and flocks it to adjust for changes.

I do however have a concern that currently he looks like he has a bit of muscle loss at the back of the pannels under the cantle (it is fine at the front).

I am consdering getting a suberpad ,has any one tried one of these?

The alternative is a heather moffat backpad.

PLEASE DONOT SUGGEST TREELESS _ PONY HATES THEM ! I HAVE TRIED EVERY BRAND FROM HM Fhoenix to libra trek via Barefoot! Sorry if this looks like a stroppy comment its just I dont really want loads of treeless related responses as they sadly dont work for my pony.

If nothing else has changed with him (less work etc) then I would be concerned that muscle loss there would indicate a fit problem with the saddle. Would def get his saddle and back checked. When your saddler is out to check the fit and then maybe he can bring out some pads to try then you can pick the one that best suits him for the times he needs an extra pad.
