Quite an emotional visit
She checked over Roos saddle first. I got very upset that she may soon retire (That thought always upsets me)
She told me her back has dipped a lot since she last came out
I told her I dont like that saddle at all, because it puts my leg too far forward and I was struggling to trot properly. As soon as she placed it on her back she saw why. The back has dropped so the front of the saddle sits high so it holds my leg forward.
She says Roo weighs the equivalent of a bag and a half of feed more then she did before
and that the more weight she holds the more her back will drop
She has lost a TON of weight since this time last year, Ive worked hard :/ 5 minutes later she did ask if shes had foals and I said yes. That, coupled with the fact I can feel Roos ribs makes me think maybe shes not so fat as she thought when she first said it. Shes not in the work that she was when saddle fitter last came out so shes bound to look worse
And its hard to get the weight off when I cant burn the calories through riding.
So am feeling a little raw about that experience I hate to think that my horse is in such a poor condition. :/
Jimmy now has a lovely saddle so can go onto next phase of training
I have to call her when he's had a couple of trots because she needs to see how it fits with a rider.
