I am considering replacing the saddle that my 5 yr old came with, and cant decide between a Wow and an 'ordinary' saddle. I'd be grateful for any recommendations for a saddle fitter in the Wilts/Hants area so that I can try a range of ordinary saddles. I can find the local Wow fitter for my area via their website but don't want to blow my one chance to have the perfect saddle on a duff saddle fitter as far as regular saddles are concerned.

Any recommendations (or people to avoid) gratefully received.

Malcolm Bentick is very good....Wicks Saddlery in Lambourn! We've used him for years and always been very impressed.

I recently used Martin Andrew from "Horse-e-things" in Fordingbridge. He came with a selection of second hand saddles, but also looked at the fit of some others that I'd picked up from my local saddler. He came on a Saturday and spent about 1 1/2 hours looking at the fit of several saddles, and left me with one on loan until the following Thursday when he came back with more. Spent another 1 1/2 hours and eventually decided that one of the ones that I'd found was the best fit. I found that he was very thorough and so far I am very pleased with the saddle that he helped me choose. I'll certainly use him again. He's a registered SMS Saddle Fitter. He charged £35 each time, it would have been less if I'd had one of his saddles.

I use Martin as well. He's fab, very thorough, knows not only his saddles inside out but also the horse's back and everything. AND he tells you what he's doing while he's doing it! Doesn't charge the earth either as Tass said. He came and fitted my two Wintecs onto my Welsh Cob nutter, and solved the bucking off problem! After you-know-who's disastrous saddle fitting!
Oh and he's really nice too, I have the shop number, his mobile number and his home number if you want any! lol
