I need a new saddle.

Can I please have your recommendations, for good, reliable saddle fitters, that don't just sell the very expensive high end saddles.

A previous search has shown Heather Roberts to be recommended, but hew website seems to be down - so I"m not sure if she is still working?

Thanks Rudolph,
my horse is stabled near Chorley, ideally i was hoping for somebody that could bring several different brands, as he is a difficult fit.

It's worth giving him a ring - mine just needed adjusting but he brought a few secondhand ones for my friend to try (different makes). He has actually made saddles himself for another friend of mine in the past, and she was really pleased with them.

Like joulsey I'm another for Michelle Miller - can't recommend her enough. She calls you, asks what sort of horse you have, breed, build, height, age, if you have a preference of colour. All sorts. Turns up with a Land Rover full of saddles. Different prices, colour, brands, ages. Fit first to narrow it down, then which you have preference for. She fit my friends Clydesdale x Cob as a 3yr old who has completely changed shape and she's only needed it red locked once as it was pinching as a 5yr old and she fit my 3yr old full Thoroughbred and it still fits perfectly. She charges call out but depends where you are but is worth every single penny. We dragged her out to Leeds!!

She's a Master - cannot recommend her highly enough!!!

Another vote here for michelle and she does cover. Chorley. She is very good and has a wide range of saddles. She re fitted mine last year as it needed re flocking.

A client used Village Saddlery, 12 horses fitted and their backs all improved. He is sometimes late, but when you get him the saddle will be fitted there and then while you wait, even big repairs, so the horse can be re-fitted, several times if necessary while he watches to see the movement of horse/rider/saddle.

Thanks Red - I always used to use, and recommend Village saddlery too, and that was where my last saddle came from, last year I wanted him to come and check my saddle, I emailed, spoke to the shop and left messages, never heard from him. Yet when somebody I know wanted a new saddle he was their like a shot.

So based on that I'd rather not use him again, as I prefer the idea of somebody being there for after service too.

Village saddlery is just after selling top end saddles, sometimes they don't even fit. Avoid, avoid avoid.

Another vote for Michelle Miller, although she doesn't always have a huge selection available.
