There have been a number of threads on rider weight, along with discussions of what professionals such as saddle fitters can or should do to advise their clients on this. I'm rather impressed to see that the saddle fitter that I now use has been pro actively getting involved with this thorny issue. Also that the horse's condition matters - my mare has varied between a porky 695kg when I got her to a skinny 619kg, with 635kg ish being optimum.

Please no button pushing, this isn't an ad.

I've posted on a few threads that my tack + riding clothing and equipment adds 2.5 stone to my nekked weight - seems that I was spot on ?.

Best be ready to hop on the scales when I take the wonky mare back for a saddle fit check!

Interesting. My OH used to ride in point to points, and being 6'4, always struggled to get down to racing weight. Obviously, the jockey is weighed out (and in) with his riding clothes and saddle. Weight is part of the job, not a personal question.

The question he asks is 'what also you ride at?' not 'what do you weigh? '
It's a less emotive, more factual question.
