Cant beat Nathaniel, I totally trust his opinion. Not as cheap as local saddlers but he will fit a saddle properly and carry out all follow up/maintenance work

Can I ask where you live? I notice Nathaniel is in Combe SN which is two miles away from me. So figure you cant be too far away!

For Devon/cornwall I would suggest Acorn Saddlery which is Tiverton way. Master Saddler who will travel! Doesn't automatically try to sell you a saddle or say yours is wrong. Straight talking, honest and shockingly good prices. Last two times I have had him he did a load on the yard at same time, granted he sold at least one saddle each time (owners had already planned to buy them!) he only charged £15 the first time to check two saddles and £10 the next for one as although not 100% perfect, were a good decent fit didn't need flocking and were causing no obvious negative effects to the horse!
There is one I wouldn't recommend, they are VERY over priced will always try and sell you a saddle without question. I was charged £40 a saddle to be checked when I went TO THEM (call outs are even worse price wise) saddler had quick look changed gullet then sent me off to ride for twenty mins (didn't watch me ride) then I came back and he checked sweat patches for eveness etc. Spent about 5 mins on each saddle max, easy way to earn £80 for 10mins if ever I knew it!
Another occasion they sent out another saddler for a friend (call out as horse doesn't travel well at all) who was not a master saddler, she started commenting on horses feet and a load of other claptrap nonsense and then proceeded to sell a saddle that didn't actually fit. If i had been there god I would have had a field day, could see the saddle didn't fit as soon as she showed it to me and about a week later she admitted defeat and that saddler must be wrong. but of course they claimed otherwise!!
Won't mention the name as defamatory and all that but they are in the more North half of Devon! They have some nice stock and make good tack but would never now get them to fit a saddle.

I couldnt agree more that Nathaniel is the best. He has fitted four saddles for me and all have been super and all the horses have been very comfortable in them. He will take as long as it needs to find you the right saddle and if he doesnt have it in stock he will get one made to your horses measurements. I cant recommend him highly enough.
