Sorry for another saddle fitter thread!

I need to get my girls saddle checked as she has been out of work for about 10 months. I'm not too impressed with previous fitter so just asking on here for opinions on who people prefer! I know Andy Wheals is in Telford but am I right in thinking he doesn't sell second hand saddles? I'm in North Shrops, just outside Market Drayton.

Andy Wheals is fantastic, but he does not have second hand saddles. However he can adjust your current saddle there and then - adjust the tree width as well as any flocking or stitching. He also has about a 6 week wait for an appointment!

http://www.mastersaddlers.co.uk/ I used Mel Lewis many years ago and she found me the only saddle that (then) fitted my difficult to fit very wide horse. Everyone will have good or bad stories to tell you, one caveat is I would be wary of people who aren't SMS members, you don't know what training (if any) they have had, although you could and should ask them if they aren't SMS.
Anne Dawson is on the list as a saddler, not fitter, but she does have a selection of saddles for sale at reasonable prices (including mine!) and does know about fitting. She is at Prees Heath.

I needed a saddler with some second hand to try on so I had Crewe Saddlery out. Am delighted with my new (second hand, it's a year old) Ideal saddle. Bea from Crewe was fab - spent ages with me, tried saddles on, watched me ride in each, put up jumps for me, discussed the fit, the pad that she fitted with, everything even down to the girth, asked all sorts of questions while and after I'd ridden in each saddle. Set me back more than I really wanted to spend (just shy of £700) but it was worth it. Best service I've received from a saddle fitter in years.

Anne is a bridle maker, though she did check a saddle once for me and made me a beautiful bridle a few years ago.

She stripped a saddle down for me not so long ago (there was a ? about the tree) and put it back together again very nicely - how come she is a bridle maker? She breeds horses and sells saddles for people so I imagine she is very competent at fitting, I wonder why you say she is a bridle maker (implies *just* really?)
