Ok so you should have a saddle fitted. Or at least I always have, but surely unless you buy the saddle from your fitter/saddler - you could get measured say for a 17.5 medium fit saddle - then go buy one and it might not fit right.

Is this true or am I being stupid here?

So surely the only thing to do is have your fitter size your saddle up and then buy it from them?

You're right. Not all saddles fit the same (even similarly) & even if you bought EXACTLY the same saddle, they can come up differently.

The things with fitting saddles is that every saddle can sit differently on the horse, so its not a case of each 17.5 will fit. Its really much better to get a qualified saddle fitter to do it.
