As above and also, is it possible to have one and not actually buy anything? Just get a good idea of what saddle you'll need?

I was quoted £25 for someone to come out and check the fit of my saddle- don't know if this helps? When i've been looking to buy one they have come out for free..

Yup, absolutely possible. Our lovely saddler charges £20-£25 to check fit, he travels about 30 miles to get to our yard & will waive this if you end up having re-flocking/adjustments or buying a new/second hand saddle from him.

He also just charges the same if there's 2 or 3 of us on the yard wanting to see him, so cheaper still if we can split it ;)

My saddle fitter charges £40.00 to check, fit and flock if necessary. I have to pay £35. in travelling costs though, so its great if I can share a visit.

When my horse was on a professional yard I was charged £60 for a master saddler to come out; this was arranged by the yard but had I known she didn't "do" second-hand saddles I wouldn't have agreed to it, coz basically it was a waste of £60.

I know another saddler that will come out for £25; others locally tend to charge per mileage as well as saddle fitting fee.

My local one charges £30 to come out check flock etc, or the same amount if you are wanting to buy a saddle they will bring several different ones out you can try the different ones and do not have to buy anything, but if you do they take the £30 off the price of the saddle. :)
