Would a saddle fitter sort my saddle out without horse being sat on?
I am being told to get saddle looked at as he has been out of work for year. Not his fault. Want to get started but nervous and need some help and been told to have teeth and saddle looked at. Teeth next week!

My guess is they could take a look but really the saddle needs to fit the horse and rider together. The riders weight can change how the saddle sits on the horse. The way the horse moves under both rider and saddle gives a good indication of fit.

If you have a saddle fitter see if they'll do a remote consultation from photos, I will always do that with a saddle I fitted, for a small charge, enabling you to know if you can get on or not and start fittening. Not all fitters do this, and some won't even do a hands on static check, but that leaves you having to start work with a saddle that might be really off. Then have a dynamic saddle check (ie ridden) as soon as you can, ideally able to show some trot at least.

Hi Pinkyboots, can you tell his name or where he is situated please? I keep getting told to have the saddle checked before I get on him! Seems its proving more difficult than I thought.

There's one fitter that I wouldn't normally recommend that would - his standard fittings don't usually consist of more than a static fit - possibly better than no fitter at all in this case?
