Saddle flasks

Hullo! I reeeeeeeeeeeally want a hunting flask But I'm quite specific in my search (and also probably too poor if I DID find one, but eh...)

I love old leather cases - I very much don't like them new. But - I'm not too bothered about the contents! I know what I'm like, and would not let me loose with a glass bottle of booze on a horse, so I want metal - and I don't trust myself with Nice Things, so silver is definitely NOT a requirement

If I could find an old case - perhaps cheap because there's no flask (?!) - what do you think my chances are of getting a new pewter (or whatever) flask that would fit in it?

Can anyone suggest where I might look? 'Vintage' hunt stuff is just mentally expensive now

I found an old case - missing a strap and slightly scratched.
Some leather food and a spare flash noseband strap later good as new

It didnt come with a 'inner' - so searched on ebay and contacted a seller who made me one to fit from my measurements - I think the cost was around £30 for a stainless steel pressure tested brandy tight version.]

John Shooter of England I think was the name...

Now get your drink of choice going quick - will be good for the Christmas meets!

Thanks all. I did once find a lovely old hunting whip in an antiques shop - unfortunately all the ones I visit now seem to have realised there's value in hunting paraphernalia!

Happy Hunter, that's really good to know! I think I stand a much better chance of finding a nice old case (possibly cheaper too if it's empty). That's a really good price on the flask, too. I don't mind what that bit's like (so long as it's watertight!) since that's the bit I'm most likely to lose or damage!

Highlands - I can imagine so many different things your post could mean and I'm sure none of them are what you intended *thick*
