Saddle for backing

What do ppl use to back horses these days?

I haven't got a suitable backing saddle (I have a full range of widths of albion dressage saddles collected over the years but no saddle that will fit him, suitable for backing) so if new horsey passes the vet I'm thinking of getting an a cheapish synthetic type saddle just for the first few months... Any recommendations - I've never bought a synthetic saddle before?

I used a Thorowgood GP T8 to back my boy. It was nice and light and fitted him well, plus a couple other horses I used it on whilst waiting for proper saddles. Then I sold it 6 months later for pretty much the same money I paid for it. I found it rather uncomfortable (could be because I don't like GP saddles) but the horses all liked it.

Agree with thorowgood, but I'd say go for a t4 - the suede patches will give you stickability!!

Good plan, I always use a prolite seat saver which is suedey so I never thought of stickability.
