Got a saddle fitted by qualified fitter who commented on my ponies poor topline after a winter of little riding.
She said when i'm sat on him the saddle is sitting on fat as opposed to muscle and to protect his back until he builds up his topline I should use a Cottage Craft half pad, which has a hollow spine for further protection.

question >>>
Does the saddle sit between the two sheep skin foam raised areas, or should any of the saddle rest on one of these for cushioning?
Can i use a normal rectangular saddle pad alongside this to cover the side panels- and if so over and under the half pad?
should the spine of the cloth be pulled up the the top of the saddle to allow a daylight channel, or just left flat as such on the ponies back?
might sound like obvious questions but I forgot to ask and want to make sure its as comfortable for him as possible!
Thanks all
