I have used a treeless saddle and been pleased with it, but I don't use it all the time, I mostly use my Humphries and Swain GP.

However, I was thinking of saving up for a more "english looking" treeless, and the Heather Moffat Vogue or the Solution seem to be the models.

But they are VERY expensive (could buy a new horse for the money!) so I am wondering if it is really worth it.

Hi, i use a Pheonix and love it. I bought from e-bay for a lot less than a new one. Lots of my friends also use the slightly older HM saddles both the GP and dressage and are very happy with them.

Hate the Phoenix but not yet tried the Solution.
The Phoenix does not place the rider in the correct position and the memory foam deadens any feel between the rider and the horse. You really should try a bit harder Heather! It doesn't do what is says in the bumph!

I tried a Heather Moffat, but didn't get on with it, but then I didn't get on with the fitter who arrived about 1 hour late and by that time my horse thought it was past time for his tea and he didn't want to play at all.

It wasn't comfortable, but I have since found out that maybe I need a larger size as I have a long thigh bone, but not a big bum, so I look "average." ( In fact my leather GP is a "man's" saddle, thinking about it. ) But there are some different models now, which I might find better to fit me.

I can't see that memory foam would put "distance" between rider and horse any more than a rigid leather saddle, at least you can feel the movement. Still thinking - and saving.

I have both the Solution jumper and dressage and cannot rate them highly enough.

Agree about the Heather Moffat- had a Phoenix and doesn't put you in a great position, tips you forward and your legs back.

Solutions are fantastic though. Absolutley no complaints.

If you have a saddle that fits both of you I'd stick with that. Treeless are just like treed - they need to fit correctly and are not suitable for all horses and riders.

I have a Heather vogue
It is lovely saddle but I do believe there expensive
I didn't buy mine I swapped for a load of brand new horse gear I had but didn't use
And after getting a rather large cob that no saddle fitted , I went treeless and to be honest I think I charge all my horses to treeless

I have the fheonix dressage saddle and I find it comfy and brilliant for schooling in. It took a few weeks to get used to it as it puts your leg in a different position.

It's not a secure saddle and is a bit like riding bareback but with stirrups so if you need a treed saddle to make you secure in your seat then you'll not like the HM saddles too much.

Heather is bringing some new saddles out and will be show cased at YourHorseLive. These saddles have a flexible tree and really look like traditional treed saddles. They have synthetic and leather in different models. Starting around the £350 mark. Can't remember the exact price but if you go to the forum at enlightened equitation there are photos and details of the saddles there.

I have a HM Phoenix and I love it. Very comfy, happy horse, I use mine for jumping, dressage and general hacking. I do have a normal saddle with a tree which I use for showing but much prefer the HM for comfort and horse is happier :) :) :)

I have a Solutions and love it. I find it very secure and it does wonders for my back, but they are a bit like Marmite so make sure you loan one and try it before you fork out all that money.
