got two choices, saddle not quite fitting horse right, can spend £100 on getting it reflocked to make it better for him (its not an expensive brand), or buy a different one. help saddler with horse atm!

Do you like your saddle?

If its wider than the horse there is always mileage in using lots of the new funky pads underneath. Depends how it is not fitting!

Personally I would get a saddle that fitted, if the saddler can make yours fit by completely re-flocking it then great otherwise I would purchase a new/different one that fitted perfectly. It's not worth having a saddle that fits badly, firstly for the horse and secondly you will pay out more money in the long run with back people and a new saddle. Go with what the saddler suggests! Good Luck

Is the tree sound and fitting the shape of the horse's back?

What is the new saddle like?

If you could tell me more about the makes etc and the type of horse you have I could tell you my opinion.

And £100 for a total reflock is pretty steep.

Whats the saddlers opinion? Do you trust him? Are you looking for an excuse, sorry, reason

to buy a new one and can you afford it if you do?

Tree is fine and fits horse. Dont think saddler will have any saddles with him atm for my horse as he came to fit another one, and just have a look at mine to make sure its ok. Might be a bit expensive, but will has cost me £60 a go to have saddler out previously just to alter padding.

Horse is a TB type.

What is the make and model of the saddle in question?

If saddler says tree fits then just get it reflocked to horse's shape.

it was made by horse and rider in sheffield (at least thats what the badge on it says), and doesnt have a model.

My saddle was made to measure for my horse, but not surprisingly he changed shape. The saddle was widened and flocked to fit his new shape and still remained comfortable and I saved myself a lot of money.

If the saddle is sound and fits, apart from needing re-flocking, then get it reflocked. Agree that £100 is very pricey though.
