My mare had had her saddle RE-flocked and checked twice now. They said it fit but the physio had said that it is causing her discomfort. I'm inclined to think I need to buy a new saddle rather than getting a new saddle fitter because I have Katie Eaton and I know she comes highly recommended. Are there any saddles someone could recommend that distribute the weight well and would be comfortable for her? My saddle currently is very very old so I'm not surprised it's not great.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Loociiee

I was in a similar situation once and came accross some videos ( 9 in total) which were extremely informative and took the mystery out of saddle fitting and gave me confidence to question my saddler and thus understand why the saddle was a good fit or not.

Interesting videos, enjoyed watching them, thanks

Very late to this but you need to look at the overall picture. Sometimes a horse needs something other than a "text book" fit and it becomes sore for quite unexpected reasons, only trial and error will come up with a solution. Sometimes a fitter's saddle fitting style, and the brands they stock, don't work for a certain horse. I wouldn't discount getting Katie back out, if it's soon enough after the refit she should adjust it for free if the horse is sore, if it's more than a month then the horse could have changed shape, rare but entirely possible. It's hard to work out why you've run into the issues you have, but if a fitter fits a saddle, says it fits, but the horse is sore, unless they are really happy to put some work in to work out why and try and come up with a solution (I have one I'm working with at the moment which is a case in point, several free visits so far to try and get them both happy) you may need to look to another fitter. I agree you need to be able to ask questions and get answers that reassure you.
