I have a 6 year old WB mare who is very slow to mature. I currently have a wintec Isobel dressage saddle for her, but my trainer and my physio both says its not a great fit now she has changed shape.
Although I like the saddle the saddle its not the best for me as I suffer with back problems and find the way it rotates my pelvis uncomfy.
I have a saddler coming out this evening and am pretty sure he is gonna say I need a new one!!
I don't want to go spending a fortune on one as I know she is gonna change shape again and would like to save my pennies for a good one once she is fully matured.
So any ideas on a saddle for her would be great. I don't mind either GP or dressage.

well i dont know if its an option for you as I know many people dont like them but when I broke Chipppie in, and still now I am riding him in a treeless cause although hes five this year, he doesnt really look very mature to me and still has some growing to do and after trying three treed saddles on him I just gave up! lol

I would go for either a T4 or T6 thorowgood. I got my boy his when i bought him at just turned 5 and ive had to have to shape changed a few times as he has grown but never had to buy a new saddle i also find it really comfortable and it comes with lots of knee rolls ect that you can adjust yourself making it fit you perfectly.

I'm in a similar position to you, and am currently hunting for a saddle for my 4 year old. I didn't want a synthetic one though so have been looking at the adjustable leather ones.

I currently have a saddle company saddle which I loved, but it is close contact jumping and is not ideal for riding a youngster in! They are nice saddles though - fully adjustable and relatively cheap, especially if you go second hand.

I'm thinking of getting a kent and masters, which are the leather versions of the thorowgood and have had good reviews on here! GFS also do a similar thing which I like the look of but not sure if they are any good or not!

Hope that helps!

I had this dilemma with my youngster. I ended up biting the bullet and getting him a new WOW saddle fitted to him. It's completely adjustable so hoopefully he;ll never outgrow it - it may just need a change of gullet and some flair adjustments

Well Amelia27 this had been one of my options however after just spending nearly £700 on a new bed i'm not sure where the money would come from !!!

What about a WOW saddle, providing you get a good fitter, then you won't have to change again in the future, thats of course, if you like them, no point if there not your thing.
