I have a Wintec dressage saddle for my youngster who is three years & 5 mnths. It is rising off his back slightly and I have been recommended to gt him a riser pad. Should I get him a front riser pad or a rear riser pad? Which will help with the probelm?

He is going away soon to be backed so I need to get this sorted for him before he goes off on his holidays :)

Thanks

im afraid the only answer is a different saddle. The saddle will lift at the back because wintecs have a very curved tree. and on a youngster with a flat back it will lift even more! A riser wont solve the problem i.e. the wrong tree for the horses shape. All it will do is move the pressure from one place to another.

You are about to start the most important education of your horses life. Any discomfort is not conducive to good learning, let alone rider safety. If the saddle is lifting it will rock, creating a sore spot at the base of the pivot. It will also mean that the pressure is spread over a smaller area. Both are asking for trouble. A riser wont solve this

If its lifting at the back then its more than likely pinching at the front. Its a change your saddle I'm afraid. A youngster needs to be started right. Your saddle should fit your horse without a numnah so riser pads and other similar stuff wont work/help!

Ditto. I had this problem with a Bates, tried EVERYTHING and then got a different saddle.
