My saddle is lifting behind and best to describe as bouncing slightly when ridden, I am going to get a saddler out. but would like to know what / were its not fitting. This saddle has been regulary checked so think I have caught it early.

or too wide - if the tree points sit too low the back of saddle comes up - i know as had mine adjusted the other day with exactly that!!!

I had a similar problem a while back and had the saddler out. She said the saddle was too wide. I ended up getting another saddle, but the saddler said I could have used extra padding to make it narrower but decided against it as I wanted a better fit for Ted.

Generally it means the saddle is too wide as is dropping at the forward and lifting at the back. If it was too narrow it would sit down at the back and definitely not lift. The other thing could be that the saddle is actually banana shaped and is pivoting.

Had this problem with my warmblood.

In his case he is wither high - think GSD. The issue could not be dealt with by tree fitting as the tree was the right width. It was resolved by a made to measure saddle with extra deep panels.

Your horse has either changed shape (muscle/weight/age) or your saddle may require a re-flock (specially around the front end), but yes definately doesnt fit at the moment, its obviously altered the whole balance of the saddle but usually by the sounds of it, its sitting lower at the front, front raisers only make the saddle appear to fit better when in fact its probably not fitting correctly underneith. A rear rise will help to balance the saddle at the back end but again will through the front out, so yes its best to have it looked at, may be just a case of havnig it re-flocked. :)

ditto the above its either too wide or the horse has changed significantly causing the tree shape to be too curved.

I am suffereing a similar problem at the moment in that my horse slap bang between two width fittings and even with padding to narrow slightly and therefore raise the front its not ideal tree wise anymore now she has matured. Therefore this weekend is being spent trying saddles!

As most people have said, for whatever reason, the saddle will now almost certainly be too wide at the front.

What saddle is it? The tree profile may be wrong for your horse. Certain makes of saddle have very banana like trees and no end of fiddling will make them fit. The width can be fine at the front but the curvature of the tree means the back lifts up.

It could also be too wide in front, either due to flocking settling or the horse losing fat or muscle behind the shoulders.
