I am looking at getting one of these to put in the back of my car to transport my saddle.

We got broken into down the yard on Sunday and totally cleared out so I'm not keeping my new stuff down there.

I need something that isn't going to fall over and this seems to tick all of the boxes. I can't find any measurments for them though, do the saddle flaps hang nicely or do they curl at the bottom?

Thanks guys

Mine lives in the back of the car and is very good - you can fit lots of rubbish in it too!

I use on a SJ wow (no flap problems) and a Saddle Co. dressage where the flaps are touching the floor, but not causing any problems... well apart from the fact I have to clear other rubbish that lives in the back of the car to make a space for the flaps, whereas wow's sit on top of rubbish!!

Never fallen over or moved, fabby thing!

We have had Gp saddles on ours and do find it a bit slippery, yet to try new pony's jumping saddle. The smooth plastic makes it slippery as it has no grip.

I have bought a sticky foam that you can put ornaments on, which protects the surface and stop things slipping and i'm going to put that on it and tape it so it doesn't move. Think that will give a bit of grip then.

Very good piece of kit. I have 2 17" Ideal WH's on it. They do tip over sometimes when I go round a corner, but I've always blamed the children for not stacking them right.

Best thing I've ever bought horsey wise. I use it all the time so money well spent and it's bearing up well 2 years on.

My Albion VSD just fits on though it does slide off occasionaly - I find it better if I position the Saddle Mate straight instead of lengthways if that makes sense?? I can put my bridle, hat n' stuff inside ok, plenty of room.

Mine sits inline with the car, so cantle is pointing at my rear seats and pommel facing the door.

Never had them fall off, but then I'm always towing when saddles are in situ, so therefore driving carefully otherwise horsies will fall over....

That's how I travel mine but couldn't put it in words lol.

Now you mention it, mine doesn't fall off when towing, it was when I was taking it to ride from the field, I'm obviously not as careful..

I love mine, however feel it may be a bit low for a dressage saddle. Never moves when towing, however the saddle has slid off when just driving normally. Check your insurance though, as some policies state tack to be kept in a locked tackroom, they may say your can't keep it in the car all the time.

So is the saddle mate slippery or are all HHO'ers mad drivers???!!

Was thinking you could just put a non slip mat on it which should do the trick and Lidl had them in at 2 for £1 (non slip mats, not the saddle mate!)
