I have an Ideal Jessica Dressage Saddle.

Basically my horse has quite a fat wither, and forward girth groove due to her barrel belly, (its conformational, I think due to having a foal at 4, never regained her figure!!) and then she has very narrow shoulders.

My saddle is slipping forward up her neck. Saddler has flocked it and made it fit as best as he can but hes said the saddle will probibily always do this.

Is there a girth anywhere that will help stop the saddle from slipping forward? I did try a crupper.. but.. we don't like a crupper!

Or is it a case of selling my saddle and getting something else more suited to her shape? If so what saddles are out there that you would reccomend?

Equine Whispers do a "Banana Girth" which is designed for barrel shaped horses or horses whose saddles slip forwards. It's made of neoprene and is about £28. There are leather ones, but they are rather pricey!

The idea being that the curve of the girth faces forwards and so prevents the saddle from slipping forwards. I would think it's worth risking £28 rather than buying a new saddle!
