My treeless saddle sits with a much higher cantle than pommel and its hard to sit deeply into it as much as I want to when doing flatwork. It fits fine according to the saddler and my RI/chiro is happy with it, I just don't find it wasy to sit to and I was reminded of how a "normal" saddle feels when I rode my friend's fell pony last week and could sit really deeply into it. Do you think a front riser would help? Daisy has no wither at all and the pommel seems to fit much lower than it should

Which type of treeless is it....does it have ANY form of rigidity in the front or is it just a stuffed pad. To me it sounds like it doest fit.

my treeless tended to throw me forward a little, so maybe a front riser may help you
sadly i had to sell mine as my mare has changed shape so much and is too high withered and treeless just dont suit her shape now

was gutted when i posted off my old saddle, i miss it, its only been two weeks, but i have to do whats right by her until i can perhaps find a treeless that caters for a very high withered horse

This applies to treeless saddles and bare back pads, not traditional saddles!

Ride your horse bare back and get someone to draw round the outline of where you sit on the horse... use a piece of chalk or a khol pencil depending on the colour of your horse.

This will show you the natural position for a rider to sit on yuor particular horse. You will have a nice deep seat. Then put the saddle on so that the middle of the saddle is over the middle of the outlined area. IE, even though the saddle is now in place, you are sitting in the same place as you would be if there was no saddle there.

Some horses, especialy flat witherless ones, don't require the 'plastic telephone' shaped cantle piece and the saddle fits better if there is nothing in the front pouch. If there is any kind of insert to take pressure off the withers it could be that it is too narrow for your horse. Most makes of treeless can supply different sized ones.
