Hi all!
My mare is a bay roan, she is now shedding her winter coat. While grooming her this week I've noticed some white areas on her back where the saddle would sit, they look like pressure/rub marks to me... I've never noticed this before and am a bit concerned. I read somewhere that the white hairs are permanent - thank god she's a roan so it's less noticeable!
She does become a lot lighter in Spring and these marks were not visible on her darker winter coat...
Could marks like this be due to a saddle that just needs re-flocking? Or does it look like I'll need to fork out for a new one
She's had this saddle since May last year and hasn't had any problems with it until now.
I've been in touch with a good saddle fitter, no answer from his phone so had to leave a message. Does anyone know a good saddle fitter near Epping, Essex?

I feel like a bad horse owner!
