I put my saddles on the rack with the cantle to the wall because I find otherwise the edge of the saddle flaps gets scuffed. Our 'racks' are just poles set in the wall, so this is no problem.

Depends on the rack - usualy I would put with the pommel towards the wall, but leave the saddle far back enough so that the flaps do not get squashed. However, I've got a rack in the lorry that is designed so that the pommel faces forwards, so in the lorry they face forwards
