My current vsd saddle is too tight around horses shoulders so looking at getting a new one. He is a cob/hunter type and though not as wide as a heavy cob he is quite broad.

Any ideas of good saddles out there on the market. Have got saddle fitter coming in a week but no idea what is a good saddle and price etc.

Kent & Masters cob saddles are really nice, I've got the GP version. I bought it last year and it was just under £700.

Balance International do the best saddles for any horse - they are designed to be very wide fitting so they will be able to find something to accommodate your cob. You do have to have one of their staff fit the saddle though. Look on their website for more info.

When my tack was stolen 2 years ago i bought a very cheap libra saddle and pad - my cob changes shape every season so i really fancied trying treeless and this was the cheapest i could find brand new.

2 years on we are still using it - its wonderful and has well exceeded my expectations - this year i am goign to invest in a more expensive leather version but i must admit am reluctant - i love this saddle, its synthetic and just so comfortable and deep that i feel so safe riding my spooky cob in it - it sort of holds you on!
