My horse is getting backed in a few weeks so need to start thinking about getting him a saddle he is a welsh d so was thinking maybe a thorrowgood until he stops changing shape any recommendations?
Also is it normal to get saddle before he goes off for breaking or when hes there?

I'm in a similar position with my Section A. He's currently being lunged/long-reined in a Wintec which is a pretty good fit (I found it at an auction unused - what a bargain!), and I am hoping to use this to back him over the summer. Then the plan is to get a proper showing saddle for him early next year when hopefully any shape changes will have happened.

my youngster goes to be backed in August, but I have a real problem as I want to ride western or Aussie so going to need a western or stock saddle for safety, as I am an old lady! I think I will have to get the Wintec Stock saddle as it has interchangeable gullets but they are about £700 new - if anyone knows of someone selling one PLEASE let me know. Failing that I guess I will get a secondhand Isabella Werth Wintec as they are just brilliant for riding youngsters, a very secure saddle.

My boy is due to go off and be backed soon. I will get saddle once he is there as they will be using their own saddles to start with.

A saddler recommended the Thorowgood as a good start for ever changing babies so I am going to ask her to come and fit one when he is at School.
