As above please, I need a new saddle for my pony but on a budget so was thinking of a second hand or synthetic? I need it in a wide fit and need 4 girth straps as he tends to take his saddles forward so need a fixing strap.

Any ideas?

Thanks x

If you see any of our Native Pony saddles second hand snap them up! 15" more common than 14" of course, if it has a square cantle it will fit the very flattest ponies (and they do come in XXW and above fittings quite commonly) but you MIGHT need to lift the back on some ponies. If is has a round cantle it isn't QUITE as flat in the fit, but will sit a little higher at the back which suits some natives, epecially Welsh As and Bs. All models (certainly the last few years) have four girths straps.

Most synthetic trees (ie all synthetic saddles) have a tree that is too curvy for a lot of ponies, and panels that are too fat - these lead to minor instabilities, perching etc which can all make the saddle move forwards or sideways. Definitely make sure that if you first get the width right, then ensure that the saddle is not can't low, and use the point and third strap (not the fourth usually) to stop forwards movement - sitting cantle low means there is only light contact at the front of the saddle, and it can easily shimmy forwards.
