Saddle size for 13.3 pony

My 13.3hh new forest is in a 17inch jump saddle and a 16.5 inch dressage and looks fine and been checked by a saddler. He has an average back too. i think a lot of it depends on the panels i.e if they come out or are cut under a bit more (if that makes any sense! no idea of the proper terminology haha). You can't really generalise though as some ponies can take a lot bigger saddles than others even if they're the same height.

Thanks nfpony! Glad to hear and I know it depends on the individual horse and saddle but just wanted a general idea of the whole picture. And don't worry, when I was writing the thread I was trying to use all this technical saddle language ( that I made up in my head ), and I looked back at it and said no one is going to have any idea what I'm talking about! haha

I have been known to need a 15" saddle for that size of pony, usually 16-16.5 but a very short upswept panel would give you more options if you're taller. 17" would be rare, but again with the upswept it might work.
