Saddle Slip Pad thingys

Impact (sp? may be Impakt) pads is one make, Limpet ones are another. Or you could try a crupper if a barrel shaped pony....
Don't know where you can buy them though...sorry

i had mega problems with my pony's saddle when i first got her as she was so lopsided (muscles only developed on one side) the saddle was completly over to the left even before i got on! i tried everything shammy leathers - pimple numnahs - even once after a recomendation those mat things you put down under mats to stop them slipping (dont try -it will rub horses back i think - i only used it for 5 mins!) i also had to have a balance girth strap put on right hand side of saddle to help but i also used a limpet pad - i really can recomend them and a stubben string girth which was just as brilliant as it has deep straps and is wide - now my pony's back muscles have built up evenly i dont need the balence strap any more - but still use the pad and girth - hope that helps x x

anti-slip numnah - they go for a very good price on ebay via many tack warehouses. shires, cottage craft or a very good brand is thorowgood. one suited for high withers perhaps?

I can recommend the grip stuff for under carpets. I have been using on my boy for over a year. has never rubbed, saddle stays put (when I remember to tighten the girth!) and has the added bonus of letting the air circulate under saddle so he is far less sweat.

i have the mother of all slippy ponies (an xxw pony who has hardly any wither and is very barrel like)

i can very very very highly recommend limpet pads (the thicker one) the thinner ones do not seem to work for everyone.

Also Stubben cord girths are AMAZING they would hold anything in place and look smart too. i use them for XC jumping and mock hunting and my saddle never budges. i cant do any cantering or jumping without to two items above they are my cant live without products :-)
