Saddle suggestions

Just wondering if you can suggest a saddle for my 5yr old ISH, she is three quarters TB quarter ID but looks full TB although well put together. My problem is she doesn't have much wither definition. Her first saddle was a med harry dabbs 9" D ring measurement GP that fitted her well but I wanted a new one so bought her an Albion M/W GP Legend K2, its a lovely saddle but slips forward occasionally and makes me feel as though I am "perched" on her back so here I am again looking for another saddle, any suggestions? Wish I had kept the Harry Dabbs one now!

As you say you feel perched, it sounds as if the saddle is too small and she would be better in a wide fitting. I have a ID x TB with little wither and a big shoulder and the K2 jumping saddle was the only thing (jumpwise) that we could get which fitted - he doesn't look it but he is actually a wide fitting. My lovely made to measure jump saddle which - in principle - should have been able to be refitted (new gullets) to almost anything just didn't touch the sides with him - literally..

What does your saddler say?

Not had the saddler out yet. My girl is carrying some weight at the moment and behind what wither she has is rather flat, she is still also a little bum high so don't think she has finished growing. There also seems alot of padding under the seat and I think this is whats making me feel perched, as though its making me sit too high. Just gonna nip out to ride her before it pours down so will take a couple of pics of the saddle on her, see what you think.

Unfortunatly there is no way anyone on a forum is able to advise on a saddle that will fit your mare. The best (and only really!) way is to get your saddler out. He will asses the shape of her back, the work you want to do with her, and what suits you too. If she is still changing shape them you could try one with an adjustable gullet (though of course no guarantee it will still fit if she changes shape, but it does give you a chance) or you could buy a good quality second hand one if your saddler deals in them as when your mare grows out of it it shouldn't have lost too much value so you can sell it on and get one that suits her new shape.
