I've decided to sell my Bates leather DR saddle but can't decide how much to ask for it as there seems to be a 50/50 split on whether or not cair (which it has) is a good thing or not, it's only 1 year old but doesn't fit my new chap as it has 18" seat and he has a short back. A local saddler suggested £200 but he also offered me very little for a saddle with Flair, so I guess he is from the 'no' camp!! There don't seem to be any on ebay so I'm hoping for inspiration on here! Thank you!

Hi

I put my dressage saddle on ebay and it was 6 years old and got 400 for it...
Give it a try you can put a reserve on it and if it does not reach it you do not have to sell it

I put a Jeffries Event Saddle on ebay a couple of months ago and it didn't sell.

It was immaculate, only used a handful of times, no idea as to why it didn't go.

Guess its down to timings...

I sold my bates all purpose last month, with Cair, for £500, and it had been used!

You can always put a reserve on or d a buy it now, the oly thing is with the large seat size you may not get quite as much interest as say the 17 and 17.5 seats as these seem to sell the best.

I reckon you would get £400 for it though

I'll give you £300 for it.

I've been tracking them for a while on e-bay and they always seems to go for around £500 - £200 from your saddler is a joke.

Hi Catherine. I stand by what I said last time - personally, I wouldn't use Cair or Flair, but a lot of people DO rate it & as such, it's rubbish to suggest that a Wintec or Bates Cair saddle is worth less than the equivalent with flocking. I don't know what they usually go for, I would guess £400 - £500.
