How wide would you class a saddle that is 7" d ring to d ring? My mare is a MW and I am looking at this saddle, its everything I need but how wide is 7"?
Do you have a saddle on your horse at the moment that is a reasonable fit? Can you measure that one and then make allowances in whichever direction you need to go?
Last Xwide saddle I measured was 9" D to D, and 7" stitching to stitching, so you can see a good deal depends on exactly where the measurement is taken
I think I might measure my saddle and then compare it. My saddle at the moment is borrowed. I just wanted to know what type of fit it was (Sounds like medium to wide type fit). There was no point on getting the person to come out with a saddle that is no way going to fit, sounds like it might.
Thanks!
very much make dependant! I believe my albion MW is 8" D ring to D ring!! Best thing is to put the saddle on the horse's back to be honest as each saddle make is going to have a different tree which will suit a different type of horse.
I would say 7" is usually MN, with 8" being a Medium.
Like said though, it really does depend on the saddle. Barons saddles have always been medium and all 3 of them measured 8" D to D, his saddle is now MW but not sure of the measurement between the D's.
Yes I will get ther person out with the saddle, I know that it could either fit like a glove when I get it on her, or might fit width wise but could sit completely wrong. I just wanted to check that it wasn't like a narrow saddle that is in no way going to fit before I got the person out with it!
Thanks again
