So on my quest to find a saddle for my flat backed Dartmoor cross I have tried a few. One we tried today that seems to not move forward so much has 4 straps. I attached the girth to the first (extra strap) and third (normal 2nd). This extra strap is very far forward and seems to pull the saddle back??

Couple of questions is what is this extra strap for? And is the way I did it up ok??

I thought the forth strap was further back.
Plus I thought ot was best to use the first and last birth strap to help secure the saddle on a flat backed horses.

I may be totally wrong though!

front strap is a point strap, and is further forward than the normal 1st strap, It is to hold the front of the saddle down, and normally used with the 4th strap to secure the saddle on a flat backed horse.

Thanks guys I may have found a flat backed saddle by luck then! Will try tomorrow on first and last. We hacked for almost an hour with hardly any movement so fingers crossed.
