While at Solihull RC today I bought some stuff and paid on visa as I had spent my cash in the canteen.
My granddaughter then fell in love with a small body brush which was £4.50,she is 2 years old and was saying 'brush Rafi, brush Rafi' and trying to go out the door with the brush. It was £4.50 and I only had £4.20 in my purse so got my visa out again and said to the assistant' I'd better pay for that'
She wouldn't take visa for that amount,I said I'll take a sack of carrots and she said I would have to spend more.I pointed out I had just made a purchase but she said 'Sorry'
I then had to take the brush away from my granddaughter[ not a bad thing ,she can't have everything she wants] but then we had the crying and laying on the floor bit.
I know they may get charged for visa but when you have already purchased other stuff.
Rant over

I can understand why your a bit anoyed if you had spent lots already, we get charged an extortionate amount for PDQ transactions so have to have a minimum purchase amount... BUT if someone is caught short (like you) we normally just add 50p to cover the charge... smaller shops arnt like the larger ones who can take card for any amount...!

I would have hoped that they would have made an exception as you had already spent money in there

Unfortunately, businesses are charged for every transaction, so the fact that you have already spent money there doesn't really make a difference - unless you spent a huge amount, say bought two 'named' rugs or a saddle!!
Hard on your grand daughter and annoying for you all the same.

yeah, we have our own business, and every transaction, whether its a fiver or £200 gets charged the same amount, so it really doesn't make a difference. But most places will have a minimum spend of £5-10 - ours is only £3! shame on your grand daughter tho! poor thing

Shame they dont take the same stance as one of Solihull's carpark's - woman paid a parking fee of £1.90 on her visa, and then proceeded to leave her reciept with card details in the machine

Miserable so and so's I am not a fan of them after they mucked me about with saddle fitting times. Just puts you off really.
