Saddler in Essex

Does anyone know of a good saddler in Essex (Brentwood area) who will come out and check the fit of a saddle? My friend has a jumping saddle for sale that seems to fit George ok and is really lovely to ride in, but obviously we aren't experts so I really would like to get a fitter to check it out. Most saddlers only seem to be willing to come out if you are buying a saddle, or bought the saddle you want checked from them. I previously used John Rowe who has now retired.

the only saddler in Essex that i would trust is Anthony Batchelor, can PM u his number if you want?
 
If you can get him to come out to you? I ordered a saddle from him last October and was told it would be ready end of January. I phoned and phoned left message after message and he didn't get back to me. So I could still be waiting for my saddle now...
Appalling customer service and I wouldn't use him or recommend him again.
 
yes he came out to check the fit of one of my saddles within a week of phoning. know he is slow with orders, cos he is in high demand and handmakes saddles so doesnt mass-produce which is where you get poorly made saddles. This is annoying, but he def is the best in essex! i have tried many and there are no others i would recommend.
If you dont mind paying for their travel then i would go for either Andrew Reilly (sussex) or ken lyndon-dykes (kent).

I don't think AB is taking on new clients just to check saddle fit though, although I could be wrong.
 
Malcolm at West Essex? They are at Clavering, he comes out. A friend used him and he seemed very good and thorough.
 
agree used west essex and i have to say....good with the pony, excellent with me

and was quick and polite would use him again and i love my barnsby!
