My saddler is currently messing us about so want to look elsewhere, i know a few round my area but they have all been rubbish, but the current one cannot be bothered to ring us back, made a appointment to come out and how inconvenient is it that they cannot be bothered to ring us, when me and mum had been waiting a whole hour and half for them to come out, and rang up the number to find out his dad has gone into hospital?, they always have some sort of exscuse!!, it has been 3 weeks now where i havent been able to ride ellie cuz her saddle is bridging, she has already had physio so dont want to ride her in it for the sake of doing so.

i need someone who can deal with cair? (bates)

in hampshire, ermm like meon sort of area, obviously will pay call out fee and that but someone good :(, pm if need be thanks guys :) x

I use Tom Day of TDS Saddlers. He is based up in Alton. I really rate him, and he has done wonders for my horse. You can find the number at the TDS website.

Don't rate David Catlin at all, I'm afraid.

Ive used Tom Day too! I use Liz Mcgoun now though as she is a little cheaper and I feel she is a little more concientious about her work. She is always on time and really listens to what you are feeling as a rider etc.... she is honest and dosnt make you feel you have to buy somthing extra like tom had a tendency to do. Tom is very direct in his manner and he can also come across as being grumpy if you know what I mean?!
Liz is an associate of Jenny Hadland equine physio which I find really helpful as she is able to identify muscle probs and act on it.

Pm me if you want Liz's number

I actually have had the opposite experience with Tom Day. He took some persuading to sell me a saddle that he didn't think I needed, which would have cost him a decent amount of money in a lost sale.

As i said, I really rate him but agree that he is not the easiest person to get on with - he has a reputation for being somewhat blunt and saying what he thinks. Not a diplomatic person, but has always tried to find the best possible solution for my horse and mellows somewhat as you get to know him ;)

Thanks guys :) liz is actually who came out to do pysio on ellie, and looked at my saddle and said it was bridging, ellie has no pproblems thank god just was treated with slightly tight hind quaters but not needing any more sessions, she will check her over on the 16th,

we are actually very frequent visitors to tds and no of tom, he talks to us and that when we are up there, he seems alright :), may speak to him when i go up there next,

David catlin - only heard bad things about him :o

I have booked a appointment again, so see if he turns up this time!! will speak to tom most probally, wont touch jill tremil again :o

Ellie, are you at the same yard as MadamMax? I am moving up there at the end of the month :) Just spoke to Tom and he said that he has plenty of customers there, so it might be possible for you to arrange a group visit. (I don't need him for another couple of months.)

Look forward to meeting you :) btw i have a grey and palomino :P if i walk past you just shout lisa i wont mean to be rude but i can be shy :(, but once you get me talking i wont stop hehehe

I use Jill Tremmill. She was recommended to me by P4NN's Liz Mcgoun as the only person Liz knew who would be able to find a saddle to fit my very tricky late mare. Liz gave me Jills number and said if she couldnt help me know one could!

The first saddle Jill put on my mares back fitted. I had tried TDS and 2 other saddlers plus Liz and none of them had anything to fit my mare. In fact TDS while very good in a business sense were the worst at fitting my mare. A fitter at TDS (not Tom) sold me a very expensive saddle that didnt fit my mare at all and which caused her great pain, cost a fortune in osteopath bills to fix her back and 3 months off! To be fair to TDS though they did take the saddle back and refund me, Tom is a good business man, I give him that much.

Jill also came out to fit my mums new dressage saddle. My mum didnt buy the saddle off Jill but brought it privatly. She asked Jill if it fitted and Jill said with a bit of a reflock, yes. Jill could of said no and encouraged my mum to buy a saddle off her instead but she didnt she was very honest.

I would reccommend either Liz or Jill.
