Saddler needed...Derbyshire area

Hi, I am in desperate need of a saddler to come out to me near Swadlincote.
I have a saddle which I either need to sell or part x for a new one. Original plan was saddler was to sell my saddle and provide a made to measure saddle as my TB is a funny shape but this has fallen through. So I need someone who can either bring second hand saddles to yard or who will do a made to measure at a reasonable price!
Refit isn't an option unfortunatley as saddle just isn't going to work for him.:rolleyes:

Can anyone recommend me anybody please? :)
 
I had an old friend make me a made to measure gp saddle, he's not in Derbyshire tho. He's in Walsall but does come out, Steve Sturgess is his name 01922 620 827 tell him Nicole (used to work for sue) recommended him to you, my saddle was a very, very good price.
 
Try Kick-on, they're from Alfreton but they travel to near toyota island area so imagine they'll go to Swad.
She's fab and has loads of saddles in usually, and will find something to suit any budget IME.

There's also Meynall, who are good but disorganised (be prepared to chase), again a lot of stock but not so sure on prices with that one.

Not that it's the same for everyone but I had these out to my pony and he endded up with all the hair rubbed out of his back where the saddle sits, and brused him really badly!!!2 vizits from back lady at £50 per visit. He endded up having 13 weeks off due to a badley fitted saddle, from these.

After getting my new one he no longer bucks going into canter and it's never rubbed, also the price included the first fitting :)

Picolenicole - I suspect he's the chap who fitted my friends saddle from Walsall (on behalf Meynell).
Ladybird - Meynell was my original plan, lets just say it hasn't come to fruition and I collected my saddle from her yesterday!

I have always used these in the past, but had a local saddler out as simply couldn't afford bpath's prices this time. Was pretty shocked that this saddler said saddle didn't fit remotely well :( Explains why after a month or so after each refit, horse expressing severe dislike of saddle going anywhere near him!
 
Suprised to hear that about Kick-on, had a lot of good advice from her and help after a saddle fitting with Sally caused a 'few' issues with my old mare.

However, I'm not surprised to hear that about Meynall!!
 
Why is Derbyshire such a no-mans land for decent saddle fitting?

Agree with comments re Meynell - hopeless and no way to run a business, and I have a freind who had Kick-on fit a saddle who also ended up having physio etc and going elsewhere. The upside was that she got more for the saddle than she paid on a trade in.
 
Irish_only - I agree with you, good saddlers in this area are few & far between.

Can recommend Andy Wheals (The Saddleman), he is based in Shropshire & has travelled to South Derbys to visit me. He is a master saddler, pricey but not over priced imo, the only down side is that he does not do px :o( - Well worth a call tho

I really rate Judith Richardson. She's so transparent about what she's doing. She's Nottingham-based but I'm in Derbyshire (just) though not sure how far into Derbyshire she'd go. She may be able to recommend someone nearby.

I also like Debbie Richardson although her saddles are usually out of my price range.

I've seen a saddle fitted by Kick-On and promptly condemned by a back person.
 
Interesting comments about Kick-on, perhaps not one to recommend willy-nilly in that case, although have only had good experiences personally.

Picole - I think I may have worded my last post badly, Sally was the lady that caused the issues, Kick-on then helped resolve them.

And as for Meynall... well I suppose we know why they've gone out of business a couple? of times before!
 
I've just been recommended Kristina Lewis from equestriana or jadie bond. Haven't tried either yet. Have also been sent a website can't remember the name but I'll check.
 
There's Merrigan who fits Saddle Company Saddles. She is based in Buxton, fitted a tricky TB recently who's going great guns. 07910 374443
Good after care as well.
