Saddlers in Essex

Following from HJ's posts..... can anyone recommend a saddler in Essex.

I used to have John Roe and having heard a few 'stories' about him I was curious to try someone else. I was going to try Roger from Ingatestone but, of course, people have knocked him too

Does anyone know of anyone else who is any good?

Where abouts in Essex are you? I am in West Essex and used Martin Wilkingson and couldn't be happier - I was told by three different independent saddlers after having a number of accidents that much of the problem was my saddle and the terrible cut of it for my horse.... fitted by Roger so I would avoid him personally!

Would avoid Roger personally......mind you, I've used John Rowe with great success!

I used the guy from Kiln Saddlery in Colchester (sorry can't remember his name), he was happy to travel to Brentwood and I was really pleased with him and his advice.

iv always used john row to .with grat sucsess iv none him for years and he is a real lovley person he was only at my yard the other day. he does the hole yard we never ever had a problem
one of our liverys has known him for over 30 years
he also fits saddles for our ja ponies and they fit realy well and he never trys to rip you off

The guy at Priory saddlery in Boxted seems to be good. Never had a saddle fitted by him, but he seems knowledagble and very friendly.

that will be david , ive always had him fit my saddles and he always lets me pay whenever!! ive just had him back out to do my mares saddle ,which is a nightmare in itsself as she has huge shoulders. he found one that he thought might be ok but he wasnt to sure so he sat on her himself in it to get a better idea (i think he just wanted to have a go really ) saddle is fine so far. you will find with david though that he does have a tendancy to sing a lot

have tried david at priory, woundnt use again.
John row was good but expensive and always in a rush.
Have also tried David Merritt from Kiln Saddler and was really impressed with him. nothing was too much trouble and very reasonably priced.
